Product Description
Heads-up confrontations can occur in any game, even when every seat is occupied. Yet, most hold em players who transition to the heads-up form, especially if they are from full ring no-limit games, do not succeed. Adjusting to the amount of aggression can be difficult since heads-up battles require you to bet and raise with many more hands than what would be considered standard at a full table.

Despite this, no-limit heads-up hold em is growing rapidly, especially on the Internet. So mastering this form of poker can be invaluable for those seeking to add a winning loose-aggressive component to their game. In addition, with the increasing number of heads-up matches now available, becoming proficient in them can be highly profitable.

This text, written by expert heads-up player Collin Moshman, is the first poker strategy book devoted exclusively to no-limit heads-up play. Through extensive hand examples and accompanying theory, you will learn to: 1. Master expected value, equity, value betting, and the fundamental mathematics of heads-up strategy,
2. Play and exploit each of the most common playing styles,
3. Manipulate the pot size based on your hand and your opponent,
4. Attack button limps, bluff multiple streets, and aggress in the most profitable manner,
5. Distinguish between optimal cash and tournament strategies,
6. Exploit your opponents tendencies and perceptions through metagame mastery, and
7. Maximize your heads-up profits through game theory and fundamental business concepts.

So whether you are an aspiring heads-up professional, or want to be ready for the next time you re challenged to a one-on-one battle, Heads Up No-Limit Hold em provides you with the tools you need to succeed.

5 out of 5 stars Perhaps the toughest part of any hand - the Heads Up play   September 28, 2008

This is a great book that focuses 100% on heads up play. Like Moshman's last book on sit and goes, this one gives you both the math and general sound strategy for playing these games. He describes how to beat aggressive opponents, attack weak players, and bet for "price-setting."

The material on Metagame and Pot size manipulation was new for me and very useful. There is also a nice review of fundamentals that includes how to make the mathematically correct decision in almost any hand.

Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent insights   December 12, 2008

The authors first book was one of the most informative and profitable poker books I have ever read so I was very interested in reading more of his ideas and I was not disapointed . Heads Up NLHE is very informative and has some very innovative ideas on how to handle the difficult situations you face in a heads up confrontation. Moshman's thoughts on exploiting different playing styles and pot size control and manipulation were particularly useful . This is a excellent advanced poker book .

5 out of 5 stars best book out there on heads up no limit play   April 2, 2010
G. G. Walker (prague, czech rep.)
Collin Moshman's second book on poker follows his excellent work on sitngos, which is probably the primary work for anyone interested in becoming proficient at single or two table sitngos. The topic he has chosen to take this time around is far more complex in this writer's/poker player's opinion--heads up no-limit play. The importance of heads up play is not limited to strategies used by players who do nothing but play cash heads up games, of which there are many, but instead includes both tournament players and cash game ring players, as many if not most hands come down to two players facing off after all the others have folded to a preflop raise. Thus, I recommend that anyone playing no-limit holdem put some time into reading through and understanding the concepts Collin puts forth in this excellent work. what I particularly appreciate is Collin's facility at explaining rather difficult and often mathematics-based concepts so that pretty much anyone can understand and utilize them. Heads up no-limit play is complex enough that there will be some who feel other approaches are superior, but what Collin presents is a thorough look at a fundamentally sound method of playing each street with relevant examples added throughout. If you play no-limit poker, either cash or tourneys and either ring games or short-handed, there's no excuse not to read and even study what's in this book.

5 out of 5 stars A definite MUST read for Pros & Amateurs alike!   April 6, 2010
Jonny C. (California)
I've always considered myself a decent poker player overall, and felt there wasn't much for me to gain from reading poker strategy books. I honestly could not have been more wrong. I've learned so much from this book and it has improved my entire thought process toward poker.

Heads-up poker in my opinion is the most important part of your game worth improving. Improve this area and everything else will fall into place. Collin's ability to teach in ways that anybody can grasp is uncanny. After reading this book I went and purchased his other book on Sit 'n Go Strategy, and both are truly amazing.

I highly recommend Heads Up No Limit Hold 'em to all players. It's a must have and can mean the difference between 2nd place and victory!

5 out of 5 stars Does for HUSNG what he did for SNGs   April 7, 2010
Keith Didion (Madison, WI)
Moshman's account of headsup NLHE strategy, particularly the variant that starts with 1500 chips and plays till one player is eliminated (the HUSNG) is to date the definite one. Packed with theory and hand examples to illuminate it, this book sets the standard for all future books on this format.
